“Dabuccino” water pipe, a Starbucks Frappuccino-like Bong, was designed by an Oregon artist named James Landgraf. He created 500 of it to sell, and it was widely welcomed given that coffee with herb is kind of a thing these days. Apparently the coffee giant, Starbucks does not approve the idea, especially not on their cup.
As Starbucks pinpoint, the glass piece looks a lot like their Frappuccino cup with the green mouthpiece resembling the straw, moreover, the trademark siren logo. They said that Landgraf and Hitman Glass (the glass water pipe company responsible for selling dabuccino) “willfully intended to create an association with the Starbucks Marks and to capitalize on the success and popularity of the Starbucks Marks to sell products.” They then won the lawsuit of approximately $500,000 for "trademark dilution, trademark infringement, and copyright infringement."
There are still a lot of smoking paraphernalia out there that resemble other businesses. Luckily none of these establishments are rushing to fire up lawsuits. On the bright side, all these controversies only made Dabuccino water pipe more legendary. I mean wow, were you able to grab yourself one of those limited Starbucks Frappuccino Bong before it was seized?
